    "Thinking Bigger in HR"

    2020 has brought no shortage of challenges for HR professionals. One of those challenges is the heightened attention to social, racial, and economic disparities prevalent within our communities and our societal structures. While this heightened attention to these systemic inequalities has likely been eye-opening to many, it has also left many feeling confused and uncertain about how they can address these inequities and drive true progress towards the American promise - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Join us during Global Diversity Awareness Month as we delve into this relevant topic.

    This workshop is structured to help HR Professionals understand and articulate the interconnectedness and harmonization of diversity management and core HR competencies. It will allow you to develop an enhanced fluency on the topic of equity, inclusion, and diversity. It will also provide you with strategies and techniques that can serve as a catalyst for you and your organization to enact meaningful change and progress towards greater diversity within your organization, so that you may benefit from its corresponding rewards.

    Attendees will take away:

    1. A foundational understanding of the intersectionality of diversity management and HR competencies.
    2. The ability to construct and present a compelling case for equity, inclusion and diversity initiatives.
    3. The ability to cultivate buy-in across the organization - including c-suite members.
    4. The ability to identify and integrate effective and practical strategies and techniques to launch and support your organization's equity, inclusion and diversity capabilities.

    Jill is a native Nevadan and proud mother of two very active children. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in History, Philosophy and English Literature, and her Master's Degree in Education, both from the University of Nevada, Reno. She holds a Strategic Human Resources Leadership Certification from Cornell University and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. She has over 13 years of experience in positions that directly involved diversity management, including serving as the Equal Opportunity Specialist and as the Director of Equity and Inclusion for institutions of higher education. She also volunteers her time to provide her diversity management expertise to other organizations, such as serving as an appointed member of the City of Reno's Access Advisory Committee for 5 years and is currently serving as the Nevada State SHRM Council Diversity Director.
