"Key Considerations in Conducting Effective Workplace Investigations"

Allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation have increased dramatically in the #MeToo era. Conducting objective, timely, and thorough workplace investigations of alleged misconduct is essential to ensure a respectful and safe work environment. A properly conducted workplace investigation also helps employers defend against legal claims. In this session, you will learn the elements of a workplace investigation, factors to consider in selecting an investigator, and common investigation issues and pitfalls.

    Participants will be able to:

    1. Describe the elements of an objective, timely, and thorough workplace investigation.
    2. Understand the factors to consider in selecting an investigator, whether internal or external.
    3. Identify common pitfalls in conducting workplace investigations and how to avoid them.
