"Employees with Differences Make a Big Impact in the Workplace"

In a time where great talent is hard to come by in the workforce, understanding an untapped demographic is an extreme advantage. Finding the right fit in your company and most importantly understanding employees with differences can be the winning recipe for your company’s success. In this presentation, Mike will describe living first hand with a limb difference, empowering others through public speaking and outreach and eventually hiring and mentoring others with differences and disabilities. Successful leaders know that having the tools and knowledge to hire and make smart business decisions during today's tough employee market is critical. Now is the time to give opportunities to those with proven perseverance.

    Attendees will leave with:

    • Tips on hiring and mentoring employees with differences
    • Inspiration on how to overcome any obstacle with the right mindset

    Speaker Introduction

When Mike was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome and given only a thumb and pinky on each hand, he and his family were given a choice. Either live in fear and hide from society or persevere and share the special gift and perspective that he was given. Through challenges and hardships, Mike proved that the word “can’t” should never be used as an excuse and in the words of his parents, “You can do anything you set your mind to as long as you believe in yourself.”

With many roles in the Reno community such as business development manager, head coach, board member, business owner and public speaker, Mike’s goal is to exemplify that differences and limitations do not define a person.  His goal is to rid the world of the word of “can’t” and exemplify that whether you are living with a physical difference cognitive difference or no difference at all, you can overcome any obstacle with the right mindset.
